Welsh Government publishes new draft transport strategy

Wales' Government released (17-Nov-2020) its new draft transport strategy, announcing plans for "a major reduction in carbon emissions from the transport network". The transport network accounts for approximately 17% of total carbon emissions in Wales. The government outlined a new 20-year strategy to achieve decarbonisation targets. Economy, Transport and North Wales minister Ken Skates said: "The shift towards a greener transport system is already underway, with record levels of investment in active travel and public transport. Llwybr Newydd is a once in a generation opportunity to reinforce and accelerate that work so that we can make our transport system in Wales genuinely fit for future for generations to come". The government launched a public consultation programme for the new strategy, ending 25-Jan-2021. [more - original PR]
