New South Wales' (NSW) Government announced (11-Jan-2020) the first tracks have been laid on the proposed City & Southwest Metro Line. NSW's Minister for Transport and Roads Andrew Constance confirmed the Sydney Metro will have 31 railway stations and a 66km standalone metro network in 2024, including twin 15.5km tunnels, which extend from Chatswood to Sydenham. Systems Connect, a joint venture between CPB Contractors and UGL, is designing and converting the excavated tunnels into a working railway, including distributing and laying the rail tracks along the tunnels.
