Nigeria's transportation minister Rotimi Ameachi called on the Federal Government to postpone its investigation into an infrastructure loan agreement with Export-Import Bank of China (Exim Bank of China), stating "it may jeopardise" negotiations (dailytrust.com.ng, 29-Jul-2020). As previously reported by the Centre for Rail, the House Committee on Treaties is reviewing a USD500 million loan agreement to finance construction projects on Itakpe-Abuja, Abuja-Kaduna, Lagos-Ibadan, Ibadan-Kaduna and Kaduna-Kano rail lines. Mr Ameachi said: ""My fear is that if this probe continues... it may jeopardise this loan... So, I appeal to the chairman to give us from now till December when we're likely to secure the loan. Then, from January, February, you can resume this investigation".
