New York MTA completes OMNY installation in Manhattan

New York's Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) installed (15-Sep-2020) it's OMNY contactless fare payment system to "all Manhattan subway stations and buses". The programme extended the contactless reader system to all 151 Manhattan subway stations, noting: "The completion of OMNY installation in the borough coincides with a recent uptick in ridership across the system and is expected to lead to increases in the number of customers moving away from the MetroCard, which will co-exist alongside OMNY until 2023". OMNY is available at 348 New York MTA stations, with plans of installing the system at all 472 subway stations by the end of 2020. [more - original PR]
