Network Rail upgrades signalling infrastructure at London Bridge

Network Rail announced (30-Jul-2020) the new London Bridge signalling centre development and GBP81 million signalling project reached 50% completion. The railway operator is constructing a new signalling centre in London Bridge to replace "the 1976-built signalling equipment, which was reaching the end of its life and increasingly difficult to maintain or operate reliably". The programme includes station redevelopments, power supply upgrades, the installation of 92 LED signal heads, the replacement of approximately 90 track circuits with 262 Frauscher axle counters, as well as an upgrade of 86 points and deployment of 24km of power cables and 19km of fibre telecoms. The railway is closed on the main line via Hither Green, along with the Bromley North and Sidcup branches. Services are expected to resume on 03-Aug-2020. [more - original PR]
