Egypt's Ministry of Transportation (MoT) reportedly appointed the National Authority of Tunnels (NAT) to conduct a feasibility study of the Cairo electric train project second phase (almalnews.com, 28-Jul-2020). As previously reported by the Centre for Rail, the government plans to develop a 67.8km electric railway network connecting al-Salam, the New Administrative Capital and the 10th of Ramadan city. The second phase includes the construction of Al-Salam-Tenth of Ramadan-the new administrative capital route, a new 20km railway line. The project is expected to cost approximately USD500 million.
