Deutsche Bahn to construct new ICE maintenance facility in Nuremberg

Deutsche Bahn (DB) announced (05-Oct-2020) it is investing approximately EUR400 million to construct a new ICE maintenance facility in Nuremberg. The facility will feature a 450m maintenance hall with six tracks and a storage capacity of up to 25 ICE trains per day. The new maintenance facility will support Deutsche Bahn's expansion programme, with the railway operator planning invest EUR8.5 billion on the manufacture of 167 new ICE 3 and 4 trains. Scheduled to open in 2028, Deutsche Bahn stated the new factory will provide 450 new employment opportunities and will become the tenth DB long-distance transport facility.
